Between the 23rd and the 28th of April 2012, a group of Swedish students with two tutors from the Flen Municipality, came to Pistoia for a studyvisit organized by Italymobility. The aim of the visit was to understand how young people in Italy live, and to get to know the Italian culture.

The Swedish students that partecipated in the studyvisit are attending a project of the Municipality of Flen, for guidance and  support. This breif experience abroad was organized with the aim to give the Swedish youngsters understanding about Italy, and young Italians, and to enhance their self confidence, social competences and abilities. 

Among the activities there was a visit to the vocational education center "Enaudi" in Pistoia, where the students had the opportunity to socialize and interact with a class of Italian students. They discussed about Italian and Swedish culture, differences of the school systems and the labour markets, and they all gained new knowledge and inspiration. 

Another appreciated activity was a visit to a "Vivaio" plant nursery in the Pistoia countryside, named "Stanghini". The visit started with a guided tour and information about this particular and interesting sector, and the students showed a great interest in the subject. Since this vivaio allready collaborates with italymobility recieving IMY students for work experiences, the Swedish students also had the opportunity to get to know other foreign students working there, and reflect about work experiences abroad.

The studyvisit was concluded with a reflection about the entire experience, including aspects such as cultural differences, language difficulties, new experiences and gained skills and capacities. This is an extract from their final essay:

"Tomorrow we will go back home and we feel that this trip has enriched us all. We have gained experience, increased our self esteem and self confidence and we have learnt a lot about Italy."
